Prof (Dr.) P. Srinivas Subbarao is an award-winning management educator, researcher and institution builder. Prof Subbarao was selected for the highly prestigious Leadership for Academicians Programme (LEAP, 2019-2020) Fellowship of the Ministry of HRD, Govt of India. As part of this fellowship, he was trained in academic leadership at IIT Kharagpur and the University of Cambridge, UK. In January 2020 the University of Bristol (UK) invited him to deliver a talk on challenges and opportunities in developing a campus startup culture.
Before joining NALSAR, Prof Subbarao was the Director of VJIM Hyderabad, Dean and director of the School of Management (SoM) at Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University, and a Professor of Entrepreneurship and International Business. Earlier, he was the Dean of the Faculty of Management Studies at Sri Sri University, CEO of SSU Innovation Pvt. Ltd., and worked as the Registrar and the Dean of Student Welfare (DSW) at Sri Sri University.
In his last 30 years of academic life, he has developed cutting-edge experience and expertise in teaching management, conducting inter-disciplinary research in business studies, and building academic centers and institutions in innovation, climate change, sustainability, indigenous studies, and peacebuilding. He also has the unique distinction of being a scholar-practitioner who brings in his experience of entrepreneurship to mentor students in developing new ventures. He has so far mentored more than 50 startups in India and has been credited with having developed a nascent startup culture in the last five years.

Prof. Srinivas Subbarao was invited as a Visiting Professor to Curtin University, Australia, where he delivered sessions on Entrepreneurship, Innovation, and Sustainability and presented the award-winning Campus Startup Culture model. During his visit, he engaged in dialogues with Curtin’s Law School, International Office, and Entrepreneurship Center, exploring joint programs in law and ESG, collaborative research, startup exchanges, and academic mobility. These interactions laid the foundation for future teaching, research, and innovation partnerships, strengthening Indo-Australian academic collaboration and knowledge exchange.

The Resource Centre on Climate Change and Sustainability Education and Practices at Sri Sri
University is a result of long felt need to create a think-and-do tank platform to engage with policy-makers, industry leaders, businesses, NGOs, media, students and academic scholars to find and implement collaborative solutions and innovations to deal with climate change and hence work towards a sustainable world order. The Centre has been developed in collaboration with The India Office of Nobel Peace Laureate Vice President of USA Al Gore’s The Climate Reality Project (TCRP), USA and Sparsh Foundation, JK Paper Mills Ltd, Odisha.
I was responsible for the academic administration of the Faculty of Commerce and Management Studies. This is the largest faculty of my university having 750+ students at UG, PG and PhD levels. I represent faculty outside the university and undertake outreach and networking for the purposes of internships and placements for students and projects and MDPs for faculty members.
After taking up the Deanship, I took several innovative initiatives to strengthen the teaching-learning and research process at MBA level by revising curriculum as per the global and industry standards; starting Global Lecture Series with renowned foreign professors and experts; organising national level conclaves, workshops and conferences; developing capacity of students through need analysis and professional skills training and developing institutional networks in India and the world.
I have been instrumental in rendering academic administration and imparting education using modern techniques suitable to the students. I am involved in Teaching, Research and administration. As the Chief Coordinator, Srinovation, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell of Sri Sri University, I have worked with students to translate ideas of entrepreneurship to Startups. I have been spearheading curriculum planning, professional development and implementation of innovative short courses and other educational programs. I am involved in guiding and mentoring MBA Students in executing various projects of the institute.
As the Dean of Students, I have been responsible for overall student affairs and encourage co-curricular and extra-curricular activities on campus and outside. As the Head of the Disciplinary and Grievance Committee, I chaired meetings on disciplinary issues. This role also included coordination with Hostel Wardens who report on activities of students.
As the Executive Registrar I worked in the areas of academic administration. This includeed policy making and matters related to regulatory, compliance, assessment and accreditation. I also took initiatives in starting new courses, promoting R&D, engaging with the industry, signing partnerships and MoUs with national and global partners and above all extended support to the Vice Chancellor in overall university governance.
